Visual Merchandising Class Displays At Stratford Square Mall

The Visual Merchandising class was lucky enough to work in Stratford Square Mall throughout the Spring semester this year. In addition to working with well-known retailers and setting up displays in large high-traffic windows, the students also participated in a “Paint The Mall Purple contest.” Students designed displays to promote The American Cancer Society’s annual event, Relay For Life. Equipment, practical skills and sewing processes used in apparel manufacturing. Examines efficient and cost-effective procedures for the garment manufacturer or independent designer. Prerequisite: FASHI-1156 or consent of instructor. Taught by Anna Vidovic, Association of Sewing and Design Professionals

FASHI 2222/2223 CAD FOR APPAREL DESIGN 3 credits
Learn the PADS system of flat pattern design taught by Chicago designer Orlando Espinosa. Development of a marketable apparel, accessory or home fashion collection using professional trend projections, fabric and notion sourcing, sizing, grading and quality control. Prerequisite: Fashi-1102with a grade of C or better, or equivalent or consent of instructor. Taught by Chicago design Orlando Espinosa.

Fashion Design Intern Needed

Job Description: Assist rising Fashion Designer, Sarah Church, with all aspects of design and

development, including cutting fabric, making patterns, draping garments, preparing/updating line

sheets, sewing samples, and creating tech packs. May also be asked to periodically assist with related

administrative tasks.

Compensation: Unpaid with the potential of a position with company.

Qualifications:

-First and foremost, you have to love what you do. It’s the best way to maintain a fun and positive

work environment.

-Student of at least junior level or recent college graduate

-Fashion Design Major

-Construction and Production Knowledge

-Sketching and sewing ability

-Photoshop and Illustrator proficiency

-Strong organizational skills

-You can look like a Rock Star, but please leave the attitude at the door

-Willingness to follow directions and handle periodic administrative tasks

-Flexibility in schedule

Number of Hours per week: 10-20

Schedule: Will need to be available at least two days between M-Th or Saturday

PRIVATE LABEL LINENS INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION

Timing: Beginning the week of May 14th, the position will be 16-24 hours per week.
The candidate must be able to work during regular business hours Monday-Friday
9am-5pm. Hours worked are ﬂexible, but candidate must be able to commit to a
schedule.

Pay: This is an unpaid internship but if eligible, you may receive class credit

Requirements: Candidates must be responsible, organized, trustworthy, self-motivated,
and goal-oriented. The candidate must have a fair to excellent knowledge of fabrics
and textiles, and understand color matching and story telling using color.

We are a new business in the event decor industry – high end tablecloth creations and
rentals. We are located on the Southwest side of Chicago, near Midway airport.
Candidate must be able to drive or is comfortable with public transportation.
